Paul Oosthuizen
Studied architecture at both the University of Pretoria and the University of Cape Town. During which period he worked for a year in London.
In 1992 started his own practice. First he lived and worked in the Okavango delta, building a safari lodge. Later he was based in Johannesburg and involved in the design and building of private homes across South Africa. From Hout Bay to St Francis, Plettenberg Bay to the northern Bushvelt. He also worked as far away as Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera.
Paul moved to Plettenberg Bay, South Africa in 2000 and has been living there ever since with wife, Claire, and their three children.
Design: His passion for design has been explored in numerous exclusive residential homes, lodges, hotels, commercial developments and boutique shopping centres in: Southern Africa from the Okavango Delta to the northern Bushveld, Mozambique, Cape Town, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Mossel bay and as far afield as the South of France and England .
Various magazines and TV shows have featured many of his projects. Visi magazine listed Paul as one of their foremost "people with vision" in 2008. However, the majority of his work has been received by word of mouth. Paul prefers to bring that personal touch to every project. He refers to himself as a “sculptor of space”. He designs, commissions the manufacture of furniture, light fittings, artworks, and has even hand painted ceramic frescos. You will notice, he does not perpetuate any specific style; rather each individual client dictates the genre of the project. Private homes and residential projects consistently remain favorites for him, as they represent a unique challenge to tailor make a structure to suit the clients particular requirements and personality.
Jantie Oosthuizen
Designer. Jantie holds a degree in ba. creative jewelry & metal design from Stellenbosch. He has been with us since 2003 and brings that focused attention to the documentation of our detail. He also manages and coordinated the staff that is periodically brought in to assist with high work load. Jantie and Paul are brothers.
Claire Oosthuizen
Manages financial administration. She is also an actress, writer and mother. Married to Paul, she finds that her flair for the dramatic intersects with the passion for spaces in the practice of architecture.
